  9. If you have version 3.0e, you don't need this file! Download PGS3EF.LHA.
  10.  
  11. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set. It will
  12. not be modified by the update.
  13.  
  14. There are several archive files for this update, but you only need two of
  15. them. You must have a version of PageStream3 installed on your hard drive;
  16. it doesn't matter what version you have, as long as you download the
  17. correct archive files.
  18.  
  19. If you have version 3.0, you need:  PGS3F.LHA & PGS30F.LHA
  20.  
  21. If you have version 3.0a, you need: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3AF.LHA
  22.  
  23. If you have version 3.0b, you need: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3BF.LHA
  24.  
  25. If you have version 3.0c, you need: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3CF.LHA
  26.  
  27. If you have version 3.0d, you need: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3DF.LHA
  28.  
  29. If you're not sure what version of PageStream3 you have installed, run it
  30. and check the version number in the Navigator requester.
  31.  
  32. Once you have your version correctly installed, decompress both archives
  33. to the same directory. Decompress them both to RAM: if you have
  34. sufficient memory.
  35.  
  36. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM
  37. and not worry about memory limitations.
  38.  
  39. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but you
  40. must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch. (Copy them
  41. somewhere safe in case you need them again.)
  42.  
  43. IF YOU HAVE 3MB OF RAM, you cannot decompress the archives to RAM.
  44. Decompress them to your hard drive.
  45.  
  46. A drawer called "3.0fUpdate" will be created when you decompress the
  47. patches. Both archives contain this Read.1st! file, so your decompression
  48. program will ask if you it is ok to overwrite the first Read.1st! file;
  49. this is normal. Double click on the Install-PageStream3.0f icon in this
  50. drawer to begin.

  52. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  53. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN OR
  54. MANUALLY. IF YOU DELETE THEM AFTER DECOMPRESSING THEM, AND SOMETHING GOES
  55. WRONG DURING PATCHING, YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THEM AGAIN!

  57. TECHNICAL NOTES: this update will patch the PageStream3, BME and
  58. PageLiner program files in your PageStream3: directory to version 3.0f.
  59. Every other file required to use 3.0f is included in the PGS3F.LHA
  60. archive. Note that you cannot use 3.0f modules with earlier versions.
  61.  
  62. LOW MEMORY NOTES: If you do not have enough memory to install this patch
  63. (the SAS patch utility will fail if there is not enough free memory), you
  64. can conserve memory by decompressing the patch archives to your hard
  65. drive instead of to RAM:. If the patch fails due to low memory, you will
  66. not be able to use PageStream3 until you have successfully installed the
  67. patch because you will then have a mixture of 3.0f and earlier files. If
  68. you need to run the patch manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA (or
  69. BMEpatch.LHA or PLpatch.LHA files as applicable) archive found in the
  70. appropriate PGS30F.LHA, PGS3AF.LHA...PGS3DF.LHA file. Use the spatch
  71. utility in the PGS3F.LHA file. The command syntax is:

  73. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStream3.0f -pPageStream3.pch PageStream3:PageStream3

  75. spatch -oPageStream3:BME2.0a -pBME2.pch PageStream3:BME
  76.  
  77. spatch -oPageStream3:PageLiner2.0c -pPageLiner2.pch PageStream3:PageLiner
  78.  
  79. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  80. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third parameter
  81. is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete the old version
  82. (PageStream3, BME or PageLiner) when you're done and rename the new
  83. version to the old version (ie, PageStream 3.0f to PageStream3).

  85. UPDATE OPTIONS: you can get the latest version of the PageStream3 disk set
  86. at any time for $10 from Soft-Logik sales. If you don't want to have to
  87. download each patch, or don't want to call to find out when each patch
  88. will be available, you can purchase a maintenance update subscription;
  89. for $30 (US/Canada) or $40 (other countries), we will send you all of the
  90. maintenance updates up to and including 3.1 automatically. Please contact
  91. Soft-Logik sales at the phone numbers and addresses listed in the
  92. ReadMe.Now file in the 3.0fUpdate directory.
